Between March and May 2021, I produced, wrote, designed, and performed “Echo,” a shadow puppet short film created for the Mother Tongues Online Festival and the Draíocht Blanchardstown School Programme 2021. The film was made available for schoolchildren to watch online throughout the duration of the festival.
The silent shadow puppet show explored the limitless possibilities of language, communication, and expression, including sign language. The experience also featured behind-the-scenes footage and a brief tutorial on creating your own shadow puppet, enchanting audiences of all ages.
“Echo” was later selected for a music composition project, where two different artists crafted film scores to demonstrate how various soundscapes can influence the overall style and atmosphere of a production. This collaboration led to “Echo” being screened at the Irish Composers Collective Salon in Dublin, November 2022
